Sophie Ellis-Bextor to Appear in Falmouth

Published on 29 May 07

Expect ‘Murder on the Dance Floor’ in Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week, as Sophie Ellis–Bextor takes centre stage for the new-look evening entertainment line-up at the Princess Pavilion this year.

The star is riding high on a wave of publicity for her new album ‘Trip the Light Fantastic’ which Sophie describes as “an invitation to dance. Pop music should be about extremes and a day glow version of reality. Who wants the mundane? It’s boring. Bring on the sparkly stuff please.” Listen out for Sophie’s new tracks getting air-play on radio, and book your tickets now.

Princess Pavilion staff have put together a top programme for the sailing event’s evening entertainment for the week. And this year the live music and party nights will be accessible to younger music fans (14+) at the new venue.

Fans of award-winning Seth Lakeman will be flocking to see the musician who scooped winner of BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards this year, for Folk Singer of the Year and Best Album. Seth’s music is inspired by his folk upbringing, although he describes his style of music as crossing barriers and genres.

A whole generation will remember the classic tracks Metal Guru, Telegram Sam, I Love to Boogie and other favourites immortalised by Marc Bolan, these hits will be brought to life by T. Rextasy in a flamboyant celebration of glam rock.

Funksters The Blockheads also feature in the the week’s line-up, and will be celebrating the only way they know how; by playing all the old favourites and plenty of new material.
Legendary punk band The Damned will be showcasing their latest tracks alongside punk classics, adding their spirited energy to the week’s live music line-up, which truly has something to appeal to everyone.

Falmouth Week would not be the same without the unmissable Caribbean Party Night, Soul Night and 70’s Party Nights; check out the website www.falmouthweek.co.uk for a full listing of what’s on, and when.
Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week 2007 takes place from 11th to 18th August.
