Cornwall Holidays
Cornwall holidays have so much to offer, and whatever part of Cornwall you choose to stay you'll no doubt be captured by the county's charm.
Cross the Tamar Bridge into Cornwall and you'll find yourself in the varied landscape of South East Cornwall, the Cornish Riviera. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the green banks of the River Tamar are complemented by a string of pretty coves and beaches that run along the coastline. Seek out the small villages of Cawsand and Kingsand with their pretty colour-washed cottages, head inland to the town of Liskeard, or simply walk along the South West Coast Path for the fabulous views.
Head down the coast and stop off at Looe, Polperro and Fowey before arriving at St Austell, once the hub of the china clay industry and now home to the awesome Eden Project.
Truro is Cornwall's only city and although small by city standards has all the bearing of a county capital. Truro Cathedral was built between 1880 and 1910 and sits in the city centre, where its three spires dominate the skyline.
One of Cornwall's leading resorts is Falmouth, home of the national Maritime Museum Cornwall. This world class attraction has an unmatched collection of small boats, many in active use on the water.
A Cornwall holiday wouldn't be complete without going as far as Land's End, the most south-westerly point of the British Isles. Generations of people have been photographed under the famous signpost, and the amazing views stretch across to the Isles of Scilly.
The fishing port of Newlyn and the neighbouring town of Penzance sit on the shores of Mount's Bay, which is dominated by the majestic castle of St Michael's Mount. Penzance is as ideal base for exploring the Land's End peninsula.
Along the western coastline is the pretty town of St Ives. With lovely beaches, the stunning Cornwall St Ives Tate Gallery and plenty of quaint streets and alleyways to explore, it's been a popular holiday destination for generations of families.
Head north to Newquay, the surfing capital of the UK, where, throughout the year, there's plenty going on. With no less than eleven beaches to choose from there's plenty of room for everyone.
Padstow, Tintagel, Boscastle and Bude are all situated on the Atlantic coastline and are well worth visiting. And don't leave Cornwall without exploring the mysterious Bodmin Moor. With its tales of smugglers, the Beast of Bodmin and swirling mists it should be part of all Cornwall holidays.
